This year's Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 1. However, starting this year, the situation varies by state, so whether or not you turn back the clock depends on your residential area.
- Ontario (Toronto, GTA, etc. Eastern Time Zone): As in previous years, 2 AM is set back to 1 AM. You can sleep for an extra hour, but from that day on, the sun sets an hour earlier.
- BC and Alberta: Starting this year, Daylight Saving Time will be maintained year-round, so clocks will not be changed on November 1st. If you have family or business contacts in Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver, the time difference will be different during the winter.
- Winter time zone change: The time difference between Toronto and Calgary will be reduced from 2 hours to 1 hour, and the time difference between Toronto and Vancouver will be reduced from 3 hours to 2 hours. Please double-check your flight, online meeting, and phone appointment times.
- Northwest Ontario Exception: Ontario announced on October 13 that it plans to maintain Daylight Saving Time year-round in northwestern regions, including Kenora, to align with Manitoba's time.
- Preparations: While smartphones and computers mostly change automatically, wall clocks, car clocks, and microwave clocks require manual checking. Residents of BC and Alberta should also check if their devices are not automatically reverting as they did in previous years.
Saskatchewan and the Yukon are regions where the clock does not change. If you are planning a trip or business trip for the first weekend of November, please double-check your local area of residence before you depart.
