Those traveling between Toronto and Hamilton/Oakville today (Sunday, October 18) should plan their travel differently than usual. This is because construction on the GO Transit Lakeshore West route and the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon coincide on the same weekend.
- GO train section interruption: Trains will not run between Aldershot Station and Oakville Station on October 17 and 18. Trains will operate on two separate routes: Niagara Falls to Aldershot and Oakville to Union.
- Alternative buses and caution stations: Alternative buses connect West Harbour and Aldershot to Oakville, but these buses do not stop at Appleby and Bronte stations, and there is no GO service to these two stations on this day. Regular trains departing from and ending at Confederation West Harbour also do not operate.
- Marathon Road Control: Roads in the downtown and waterfront areas will be closed in stages due to today's marathon and half marathon, and closures around the finish line are scheduled to continue until 9 p.m. tonight.
- TTC Change: There are no plans to suspend subway operations, but several surface lines will be rerouted today, with the subway starting at 8 a.m. and the 511 Bathurst tram starting at 11:30 a.m.
- Needs to check on Monday as well: On Monday, October 19, Lakeshore West train times may vary by up to 5 minutes.
Before you depart, please check the GO Transit itinerary, the Toronto Police control list, and TTC announcements. If you are traveling downtown by car, please allow ample time compared to usual.
