The Ontario Provincial Immigration Program (OINP) has increased the points awarded to high-income professionals. According to an update announced by the provincial government on October 7, applicants in the Workforce Priority stream who have recorded an annual income of $80,000 or more in any one of the last five years will receive 10 points under the 'Canadian Work Experience: Income History' category. However, income is recognized only if verified by a Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
- Effective Date: Effective from October 5, 2026
- Eligibility: Individuals who have registered an Expression of Interest (EOI) on the Workforce Priority stream and have a CRA-verified annual income of $80,000 or more
- Existing registrants: The state government stated that there is no need to log in separately or modify your profile, as your score has already been automatically reflected.
- Note: The score table for lower income brackets has not been included again in this announcement, so it is recommended that you verify your score directly using the state government's latest scoring data.
If you are preparing for permanent residency, organizing your income data and tax return records for the past five years in advance can be helpful for the next selection process.
