The October payment for the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) will be deposited today (Tuesday, October 20). This is the fourth payment for the 2026-27 benefit year (July 2026 to June 2027), and the inflation-indexed maximum amount, which has been increased by 21 TP3 T since July of this year, is being applied.
- Maximum monthly amount: $679.75 per child under 6 ($8,157 per year), and $573.58 per child aged 6 to 17 ($6,883 per year) — applied separately for each child.
- Criteria for receiving the full amount: If your adjusted family net income for the 2025 tax return is less than 1 TP4T38,237, you will receive the maximum amount. If your income is above that, it will decrease in stages based on the number of children.
- Ontario Child Allowance Included: For families residing in Ontario, the Ontario Child Benefit (up to 1 TP4 T146.66 per child per month) is included in the same deposit. For children eligible for the Child Benefit for Disabilities (CDB), an additional 1 TP4 T290 is added per month.
- Remaining schedule for this year: The next payment is on November 20, and the December payment is moved up to December 11 due to the year-end schedule.
- If you don't see the deposit: The CRA advises you to wait 5 business days from the payment date before making an inquiry. You can check the amount and schedule in Benefits and Credits on CRA My Account.
It is also useful information for new immigrant families. Permanent residents can apply immediately upon arrival, while temporary residents (e.g., those for employment or study) are eligible only after residing in Canada for 18 consecutive months and having a valid permit of residence for the 19th month. Applications can be made automatically upon birth registration, online via CRA My Account, or using Form RC66; new immigrants must also submit the RC66SCH. Payments will continue only if both spouses file tax returns annually.
