Today, Monday, October 5, is the Quebec general election. Polling stations are open from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., so voters residing in Quebec can vote until this evening.
- Early Voting Results: Approximately 1.6 million people (25.591 TP3T) participated in early voting from September 25 to October 1, showing a slight increase in voter turnout compared to 2022 (24.81 TP3T). (Published by Élections Québec)
- Voting Eligibility: You must be a Canadian citizen aged 18 or older, have resided in Quebec for at least 6 months, and be registered on the voter roll.
- ID to bring: One of the following: health insurance card, driver's license, Canadian passport, Indian identity card, or military ID — the yellow guide card received by mail is for polling station verification and cannot be used as an ID.
- Check polling station: You can check via the yellow information card, the Élections Québec website, or by calling 1-888-ELECTION.
- Guaranteed voting time: For voting on a workday, the employer must provide four consecutive hours of leave during the voting period.
- Key Issues of This Election: Representatives for the state legislature are elected from 127 electoral districts, and housing supply, cost of living, healthcare, and economic policies are cited as major issues.
I hope that Korean compatriots residing in Quebec will also make sure to exercise their right to vote.
